I’m so tired of having to do everything myself. During all our Boston blizzards this winter, my neighbor always cleans off his wife’s car, starts it up for her and gets the defrost going. She leaves for work at 7:30 in the morning in a warm toasty car and I’m left brushing off my car, shovel it out of snow drifts and warming it up myself.
I could host a self-pity party, but I did that for years. No one ever came. I finally hit my bottom and said “Hey I’m strong. I don’t need to wallow in self pity. I’m capable. I can do this! And besides I am so grateful that I have a car to clean off.”
Self-pity keeps us so small, but gratitude keeps us standing. It gives us our confidence back.
