Get a mentor.
Find someone you admire, respect and want to be like. Then adopt their attitude, their lifestyle and their habits and make them your own. Yep, go ahead and steal them. It’s OK to do this. It’s the highest form of flattery to them.
Without a mentor (you can have more than one) your life will be harder, more frustrating, you’ll make more mistakes.
Do you admire your grandmother? This is a photo of mine, Lala. She was my favorite person in the whole world. Do you admire a special neighbor, Jesus, a movie star, your 11th grade math teacher? Your mentor can be anyone that inspires you, living or deceased.
Select 2-3. Study them. Learn from their mistakes. Learn from their successes. As you experience your own successes, you can then become a mentor to others!
I cannot imagine where I would be today without mine; the GOAT of football, Tom Brady, the Navy SEALs, my grandmother Lala and my neighbor Ellen. Each possess strong core values, unwavering confidence, humility, are authentic, they don’t care what others think of them, and give back.
Please – don’t deny yourself the right to follow in the footsteps of great people who have gone before you.
Go ahead and steal from them. They will be flattered.
